Ask anyone who considers themselves a movie fan, and they’ll tell you that the first trailer for Godzilla: King of the Monsters — which came out earlier in 2018 — was one of the best trailers of the year by a country mile.
Epic in every sense of the word, the first trailer was a more of a mood-setter, whereas this trailer is just balls-to-the-wall chaos.
Here is the official synopsis for Godzilla: King of the Monsters:
Members of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species-thought to be mere myths-rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.
Godzilla: King of the Monsters — which sees Strangers Things star Millie Bobby Brown make her feature film debut — is set to be released in theaters on May 31, 2019.
In addition to Brown, the movie also stars Kyle Chandler, Vera Farmiga, Sally Hawkins, Charles Dance, Thomas Middleditch, O’Shea Jackson Jr., and Ken Watanabe. Hawkins and Watanabe are the only holdovers from the first film.
It is the third film in Legendary’s “MonsterVerse”, following 2014’s Godzilla and 2017’s Kong: Skull Island. The sequel, Godzilla vs. Kong, is scheduled to be released in theaters on May 22, 2020.
