Sarah Spain is one of the most prominent female voices at ESPN, appearing on numerous programs throughout their network.
Spain — who was born on August 18, 1980, in Cleveland, Ohio — was raised in Lake Forest, Illinois, and graduated from Cornell University with a degree in English. While attending Cornell University, Spain was an accomplished athlete on the university’s track and field team.
After graduating from Cornell University, Spain worked for a handful of sports media news outlets such as Fox Sports Net, MouthpieceSports.com, ChicagoNow.com, and the Big Ten Network. Following those gigs, Spain joined ESPN 1000 Chicago in 2010 and became a writer espnW, ESPN’s women’s brand.
While at ESPN — in addition to writing and hosting podcasts — Spain has appeared on many ESPN television shows, including SportsCenter, His & Hers, Olbermann, Mike & Mike, The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz, First Take, The Sports Reporters and Outside The Lines.
In 2018, Spain launched the national radio show “Spain & Fitz” with co-host Jason Fitz.
In 2007, Spain was the subject of a minor controversy after she posted on eBay offering to be someone’s “date” to Super Bowl XLI between the Chicago Bears and Indianapolis Colts.
In recent years, Spain has become one of the most prominent and recognizable voices at ESPN, both in print and on air.
