There are reports of a person with a gun in a building at Western Connecticut State University.
The school posted an alert to students saying those on the Westside campus should shelter in place.
“Report of person with a gun in the VPA building. Shelter in place if you are on the Westside campus,” the school alert red.
Officials said a person reportedly with a gun is in the VPA building. The VPA building is on the Westside area of the campus.
At this time, the reports of an armed suspect have not been confirmed and there has been no word of any injuries or fatalities.
Western Connecticut State University, which is located in Danbury, Connecticut, is a public university with more than 34,000 enrolled students. WCSU is made up of four schools: the Ancell School of Business, the School of Visual and Performing Arts, the School of Professional Studies, the Macricostas School of Arts and Sciences, and the Division of Graduate Studies.
The reports of an armed person at Western Connecticut State University is the is just the latest in a string of shelter-in-places, lockdowns, bomb threats, and shootings that have plagued the United States.
Despite all of the recent shooting deaths in the United States, the nation’s government has yet to make any changes to our laws to better ensure the safety of the population.
