Christina Cabral has been identified as the Dunkin’ Donuts owner in the shocking video that shows Cabral calling the police on 46-year-old black woman Tirza Wilbon White.
In a video posted to Facebook, White claims that Cabral called the police on her after she and another “brown-skinned” customer were told by Cabral that they could not use the free WiFi unless they purchased something.
When White inquired as to why she was being kicked out of the Dunkin’ Donuts, Cabral responded by saying that the location has had a number of recent incidents involving loiterers, including fights.
“I don’t know what company you own but as a franchisee I do get to make my own rules and that’s posting signs,’ Cabral said. ‘Because I need to ensure safety to my customers and I’m not saying you’re a problem but I’ve had problems in the past with customers. They hang out here for eight hours, they get into fights,” Cabral can be heard saying in the video, explaining her decision.
White believes she is a victim of racial profiling.
When a police officer arrived, he confirmed that the department had dealt with loiterers at the location recently. Additionally, the officer said that if White did not leave the property, he would be forced to issue her a summons.
White has since claimed that she has received calls from the Dunkin’ Donuts corporate offices to apologize, however, she has not accepted due to “other incidences of social injustice.”
