Cody Garbrandt Net Worth As Of 2018: $4 million

Early Life (1991-2009):

Garbrandt was born July 7, 1991, in Uhrichsville, Ohio. Garbrandt began boxing in high school and was trained by his uncle, a former boxer as well. During this time, Garbrandt was also participating in football and wrestling for his high school. Garbrandt won state as a freshman wrestler and placed second in states the following year. Prior to his junior season in high school, Garbrandt decided to step away from wrestling in order to focus primarily on his boxing career.

After high school, Garbrandt attended both Notre Dame College and Newberry College but dropped out of both due to academic reasons. Instead of school, Garbrandt put all of his attention into boxing and his amateur career. Garbrandt finished with an amateur boxing record of 32-0 before deciding to focus on an MMA career.

Amateur & Early Pro MMA Career (2009-2016):

Garbrandt took his first amateur MMA fight in 2009. Over the next three years, Garbrandt compiled an amateur record of 6-2 before deciding to turn pro. Quickly after turning pro, Garbrandt began his professional career by winning his first five fights, all by either TKO or knockout and four of which ended in the very first round.

Garbrandt was signed to the UFC in late 2014 and made his debut in January of 2015 against Marcus Brimage. Garbrandt was able to win via TKO with just 10 seconds left in the final round. Garbrandt then won his next four fights in the UFC, finishing three in the first round.

Cruz & the Bantamweight Championship (2016-Present):

In December of 2016, Garbrandt was given a chance to fight Dominick Cruz for UFC Bantamweight title. At the time, Cruz was considered one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world, holding a 22-1 record with his last loss coming in 2007. In a hard-fought bout that lasted the whole five rounds, Garbrandt was able to beat Cruz via unanimous decision, handing Cruz his first loss in almost a decade.

Garbrandt’s first title defense was set for November of 2017 against T.J. Dillashaw. Dillashaw was the bantamweight champion until losing his belt to Cruz. Garbrandt was knocked out in the second round, losing his belt to Dillashaw and getting the first loss of his professional MMA career. A rematch against Dillashaw is set for August 4, 2018 at UFC 227.
