The helicopter of Leicester City owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha has crashed outside the King Power Stadium in Leicester, England. At this time, it is unclear if the billionaire owner was on board the helicopter.
At this time, there is no word on any injuries or fatalities. The identity of the passengers is unknown and it is unclear if there were any survivors.
Leicester police said in a statement: “We are dealing with an incident in the vicinity of the King Power Stadium. Emergency services are aware and dealing.”
According to Sky News, the helicopter reportedly spun out of control and crashed near the stadium.
Video and pictures from the scene posted to social media show a large fire in what appears to be a parking lot. Emergency services are currently on the scene.
Leicester City Football Club released the following statement:
“We are assisting Leicestershire Police and the Emergency Services in dealing with a major incident at King Power Stadium.
The club will issue a more detailed statement once further information has been established.”
The Leicester City Foxes won the 2015-16 Premier League title under Srivaddhanaprabha’s ownership.
