Reports indicate that multiple people have been killed after a gunman began shooting inside the Tree Of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Police have confirmed to WPXI that there are “multiple” casualties, saying that “at least four” people are dead.
The synagogue was reportedly crowded for a Saturday service. The shooting happened at around 10 a.m. local time. The Pittsburgh Public Safety Department first tweeted about the shooting at 10:24 EST.
At this time, there are unconfirmed reports of multiple victims. Additionally, there is an unconfirmed report that the unidentified suspect shot at responding officers.
The status of the suspect is unknown at this time and the exact amount of injuries or fatalities are also unknown. Police are currently on the scene at the synagogue, which is located at 5898 Wilkins Ave, in Pittsburgh.
The Pittsburgh Public Safety Department has asked the media to stop calling all Public Safety cell phones because it “is draining batteries and interfering with communications.” Additionally, police have asked people to “stay in their homes”.
