The Ultimate Fighting Championship returns north of the border on Saturday, October 27 for UFC Fight Night 138: Volkan vs. Smith at SMG Moncton in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada. The main event is in the light heavyweight division between No. 2-ranked contender Volkan Oezdemir and Anthony Smith, who is ranked No. 10 at 205 pounds.
In the co-main event, Artem Lobov faces off against Michael Johnson, who is a late replacement for Lobov’s originally scheduled opponent Zubaira Tukhugov. Tukhugov was pulled from the bout following his involvement in the post-UFC 229 fracas between his teammate Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor, who is a teammate of Lobov.
Other bouts on the main card are a light heavyweight bout between Misha Cirkunov and Patrick Cummins, a bantamweight scrap between Jonathan Martinez and Andre Soutkhamthath, and another 205-pound bout between Ed Herman and Gian Villante. Kicking off the main card is Alex Garcia vs. Court McGee in the welterweight division.
Before the fights could be official, however, all fighters had to step onto the scale at the host hotel in Moncton on Friday, October 26 for the official weigh-ins.
When it was all said and done, only one fighter — Michael Johnson — failed to make weight.
