On Monday, October 15, police identified 22-year-old Isai Berrones as the Michigan State University student who was killed in a shooting on Friday, October 12.

According to the East Lansing police department, Berrones — from Alamo, Texas — was fatally shot around 3 a.m. on Friday, October 12, at the 25 East apartment complex in the 2500 block of Chandler Street in East Lansing.

Reports indicate that East Lansing police initially responded to the apartment complex for a call about shots fired and a possible fight. When authorities arrived on the scene, they found Berrones, who had been shot.

The Texas-born senior, who was majoring in food science at the university, was pronounced dead at a local hospital following the shooting.
