Deontay Wilder is one of the scariest punchers on the planet. The WBC Heavyweight Boxing Champion was recently making the media rounds when he stopped by Nacion ESPN and had an opportunity to show off his punching power. Unfortunately for the mascot on television, Wilder took his shot.

Wilder was told that he could hit the Nacion ESPN mascot anywhere he wanted, so he cocked back his right hand and threw a devastating strike down the pipe.

The punch landed square on the mascot’s face and sent him flying backward. As it turns out, Wilder actually may have done some serious damage to the man inside of the costume because reports claim the man suffered a broken jaw.

Wilder claims that he didn’t know there was a person inside of the costume, so lord only knows what kind of wizardry he thought was going on.

“I sincerely apologize to the brave man that was injured (if this is true),” Wilder wrote in a statement on social media. “I have the [utmost] respect for him, his participation, willingness and courage. If this is true, I personally would like to invite him to my Dec. 1 fight. Word is bond.”

Wilder was on a press tour promoting his upcoming fight with fellow heavyweight boxing star Tyson Fury on Dec. 1.

32-year-old Wilder will enter the fight with a perfect 40-0 record, with 39 wins coming by way of knockout. Fury, meanwhile, is also unbeaten at 27-0. The winner between Wilder and Fury is expected to face WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and IBO champ Anthony Joshua in a title unification bout next year.
