While Conor McGregor may be the most popular MMA fighter in the world, Khabib Nurmagamedov quite handily proved that he’s far from the best MMA fighter in the world.

During the pair’s lightweight championship bout at UFC 229 on October 6, Khabib handled McGregor on the ground in the first two rounds before barely losing the third round. Then, in the fourth, “The Eagle” proved to be too much for the “Notorious”, as Nurmagamedov was able to get McGregor to submit with a neck crank choke.

However, while the casual UFC fan may have thought the Khabib result was McGregor’s first ever MMA loss, it was actually his fourth — all of which have come via submission.

And yet, despite the fact that Khabib more or less dominated him, McGregor was already calling for a rematch just a few hours later.

Good knock. Looking forward to the rematch.

Of Conor McGregor’s four professional losses in mixed martial arts, two of them have come in the Ultimate Fighting Championship — one to Nate Diaz (who he later defeated in the rematch) and one to Khabib. And while beating Conor McGregor has proved to be no easy feat, the way to beat him is certainly a known quantity at this point of his career: submission.

But who else other than Khabib and Nate Diaz have gotten Conor to tap? Let’s take a look back at the Notorious’ most notorious results.

Artemij Sitenkov — Submission via Kneebar at Cage Of Truth, 2008

Joseph Duffy — Submission via Arm-Triangle Choke at Cage Warriors 39: The Uprising, 2010

Nate Diaz — Submission via Rear Naked Choke at UFC 196, 2016

Khabib Nurmagamedov — Submission via Neck Crank at UFC 229, 2018
