Lil Wayne was just a few songs into his set at the A3C Festival in Atlanta, Georgia late Sunday night when panic erupted. According to reports and videos on social media, fans fled the venue. There are reports that an altercation broke out nearby the stage and that the crowd began fleeing which caused others to panic as Weezy was rushed off the stage.
Reports of injuries to between 6 and 12 people have been reported.
The injuries do not appear to be serious, with CBS saying the injuries came from fans injuring their ankles and getting cut while fleeing in the chaos.
Some fans appeared to think they heard gunshots, but there have been no confirmed reports. The official Twitter account of the A3C Festival confirmed, however, that there was an altercation in the crowd.
“Sadly, there was an altercation tonight that ended Lil Wayne’s performance. We are still collecting information to determine exactly what happened and will provide follow up information as soon as we know more details,” a statement read. “Please be assured that the law enforcement officers present have confirmed that there were no weapons involved.
“This was a very unfortunate way to end what had been an otherwise amazing week of music, friendships, and connections. Thank you to everyone for your amazing support and positive energy all week. We love y’all.”
Once the evacuation was over and information was being gathered, Lil Wayne took to social media to wish his fans safety.
“Hope everyone at A3C is safe,” he wrote.
We will provide more information as it becomes available.
