The Ultimate Fighting Championship returns to pay-per-view this weekend for UFC 225: Whittaker vs. Romero II in Chicago, Illinois. The event is headlined by a middleweight title fight between current champ Robert Whittaker and top contender Yoel Romero, while the interim welterweight title is on the line when Rafael dos Anjos squares off against Colby Covington in the co-main event.
Also on the main card is an intriguing women’s featherweight fight between Megan Anderson and Holly Holm, as well as the return of CM Punk, who faces Mike Jackson.
Before any of the bouts could be official, however, all of the fighters had to successfully make weight at Friday’s official weigh-ins at the UFC host hotel. Ceremonial weigh-ins will take place at 7:00 p.m. ET at the United Center, which hosts Saturday’s pay-per-view.
Middleweight challenger Yoel Romero was the only fighter to miss weight on his first attempt but had been given an additional two hours to make the 185-pound limit for his title fight against Whittaker.
Unfortunately for Romero and the fans who were looking forward to the fight, he once again failed to make weight on the second attempt. However, Whittaker still accepted the fight with Romero but it will no longer be for Whittaker’s middleweight championship.
