Marco Reus Net Worth 2018: How Much Is Reus Worth Now?

Marco Reus is the face of the Yellow and Black German powerhouse Borussia Dortmund. The Forward has also made numerous appearances for the German National Team and has graced the cover of the wildly popular video game series, FIFA. At 28-years-old the German still has a lot ahead of him but what fortune has he already amassed with his success?

$20 Million is a pretty insane amount to be worth at 28 years old! How did Reus’ playing career guide him to fame and fortune?

1989-2006

Reus was born in Dortmund, Germany. He began his youth career in 1994 for hometown club Post SV Dortmund. Reus would only play for them for two seasons before he moved to the youth academy of Borussia Dortmund. He would spend 10 seasons with the major clubs youth affiliate until he joined the U-19 division of 3. Liga side Rot Weiss Ahlen. He would make sporadic appearances with their second team. The following year Rues would break into their first team and begin to make a name for himself.

2006-2012

In 2007 Reus would break into the first squad at Rot Weiss and immediately make an impact. He would appear in 14 matches and score a goal in the last game of the season which would help Rot Weiss be promoted to 2. Bundesliga, Germany’s Second Division of professional soccer. In 2008-2009 Reus would go on to play in 27 matches. His abilities at Rot Weiss caught the eye of Bundesliga side, Borussia Monchengladbach. He signed a four year deal with the side in August 2009. Reus would also make his debut with the German National team U-21 side that same month and his senior team debut not too far after in May 2010.  He would flourish as a goal scorer under the tutledge of Lucien Favre and remain with the club until 2012. Reus decided he wanted to take his talent to a larger club and would soon have a major homecoming to help fulfill that dream.

2012-Present

In January 2012 Reus would make his way back to his old club and his hometown when he signed with Borussia Dortmund. He wanted a team that could challenge for the league title and guarantee him Champions League soccer, and he made a good decision with Dortmund. He would join the side in July 2012 just after the club won their second straight league title, securing that Reus would make his first Champions League appearance the following season. He would win Footballer of The Year in Germany in 2012 and made the UEFA team of the year in 2013. Rues would finally start to win hardware with his new side as well. Dortmund would win the 2014 and 2015 German Supercup and the DFB-Pokal (German Cup) in 2017.  Reus was initially supposed to be a member of the 2014 German team that would win the World Cup but would miss out due to injury. Reus did have some legal issues dealing with the fact that he drove without a valid drivers license and even admitted to having a fake one, he has since announced that as of 2016 he has an actual license… He would also grace the cover of the wildly popular FIFA 2017 video game.

Rues has had some issues with injuries during his career but if he has a lot of time ahead of him to build his reputation and riches. Now if he can help Dortmund dethrone Bayern Munich? That’s another story.
