As we enter June, the success of Infinity War and Deadpool 2 are still lingering in our minds while Solo didn’t exactly live up to the hype. Here’s a fresh look at upcoming movies that aren’t geared towards space or superheroes but definitely drive home a wow factor that has a little something for everyone!
1. Mowgli
From Warner Bros. Pictures and director, Andy Serkis comes Mowgli, a wildly dark take on the boy from The Jungle Book. Hint: there are no singing animals.

The story follows the upbringing of the human child Mowgli, raised by a wolf pack in the jungles of India. As he learns the often harsh rules of the jungle, under the tutelage of a bear named Baloo and a panther named Bagheera, Mowgli becomes accepted by the animals of the jungle as one of their own. All but one: the fearsome tiger Shere Khan. But there may be greater dangers lurking in the jungle, as Mowgli comes face to face with his human origins.
Mowgli hits theaters October 19, 2018.
2. Sicario: Day of the Soldado
Despite the lack of Emily Blunt, the second installment in the Sicario world seems action-packed and hard hitting. CIA, drug traffickers, and terrorists… let’s see who makes it out of this film in one piece.

The sequel to the 2015 film Sicario, the film stars Benicio del Toro, Josh Brolin, Isabela Moner, Jeffrey Donovan, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, and Catherine Keener. The plot follows the drug war at the U.S.-Mexico border as it has escalated to the point where the cartels have begun transporting terrorists, forcing the CIA to team up with ex-hitman Alejandro Gillick.

3. Adrift
Adrift stars two of the most popular young adult film stars and focused on a true story of love and survival.
Official Synopsis:
The film stars Shailene Woodley and Sam Claflin, and follows the true story of a couple who get stranded in the middle of the Pacific Ocean and must navigate to Hawaii with no communication or navigation tools.
Adrift is released in theaters June 1, 2018.
4. City of Lies
Just how the Getty family kidnapping stirred a television series on FX Network and a feature film, now comes the unsolved murders of Tupac and Biggie in feature film format following the USA Network television series on the same topic. True crime stories are gaining a massive audience and this film will no doubt be on everyone’s radar.

5. Papillon
A remake of the 1973 film adaptation, Papillion promises to thrill audiences just as the original.

Papillon follows the epic story of Henri “Papillon” Charrière (Charlie Hunnam), a safecracker from the Parisian underworld who was unjustly convicted of murder and condemned to live in a notorious penal colony on Devil’s Island in French Guiana, South America. Determined to regain his freedom, Papillon forms an unlikely alliance with quirky convicted counterfeiter Louis Dega (Rami Malek), who in exchange for his protection, agrees to finance Papillon’s escape, ultimately resulting in a bond of lasting friendship.
Papillon is out in theaters August 24, 2018
