The critically-acclaimed Fallout franchise is back with a teaser trailer for their newest game Fallout 76Fallout 76, which will take place in West Virginia, is the newest Fallout game since 2015’s Fallout 4, which took place in Boston.

Fallout is a series of post-apocalyptic role-playing video games created by Interplay Entertainment. The series is set during the 22nd and 23rd centuries, with its atompunk retrofuturistic setting and artwork are influenced by the post-war culture of 1950s America, and its combination of hope for the promises of technology and the lurking fear of nuclear annihilation.

The first two titles in the series, Fallout and Fallout 2, were developed by Black Isle Studios. Micro Forté and 14 Degrees East’s 2001 Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel is a tactical role-playing game. In 2004, Interplay closed Black Isle Studios, and continued to produce an action game with role-playing elements for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox, Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel without Black Isle Studios.

A third entry in the main series, Fallout 3, was released in 2008 by Bethesda Softworks. It was followed by Fallout: New Vegas in 2010, developed by Obsidian Entertainment. Fallout 4 was released in 2015 and Fallout 76 was announced on May 30, 2018.

Fallout 76 Release Date

The release date for Fallout 76 has yet to be announced. Given that the announcement was made halfway through 2018, one could expect the game to either be released in time for the 2018 holiday season or sometime in 2019.

Fallout 76 Gameplay Details

While fans of the franchise can expect the same gameplay they’ve come to know and love, not much about the game’s specifics is known. According to Jason Schreier, a news editor at Kotaku, Fallout 76 will be “an online game of some sort.”

via The Next Web:

Unlike the intro to Fallout 3, the teaser to Fallout 76 is set within a pristine, unburned, Deathclaw-free vault. Vault 76, to be precise. That’s where the name comes from.

Eagle-eyed Fallout fans should be nominally aware of Vault 76. Players learned about it in Fallout 3, while delving through the computer systems of the Citadel. It was also briefly mentioned in the Mothership Zeta expansion pack and Fallout 4.

According to the game’s canon, Vault 76 houses 500 people and is a control vault: which is to say that it’s one of the vaults where VaultTec refrained from playing mind games.

Bethesda Studios will release more information about the game during their E3 Showcase on June 10, at 6:30 PM PST.

This story is developing.
