Kroos was born on January 4, 1990, in Greifswald, Germany. Soccer was big in his family growing up and obviously continues to be. His father currently coaches for the youth team, Hansa Rostock and his younger brother, Felix Kroos, is a professional player for Werder Bremen.
As a child, Kroos was not the best student and instead spent most of his time kicking around the soccer ball. In 2006, he joined Bayern Munich’s youth team, and it was there where peopled realized how smart a player he was. Kroos saw the field in such a way that he was able to effortlessly string passes together.
The Beginning of His Pro Career
His skills were quickly noticed by the club. Only a year after joining, he was loaned to Bayern Leverkusen for the 2009/2010 season at just 17 years-old. After one season with the team, he ended up with 9 goals and 12 assists. He then signed on for another. During his time with the team, he won three Bundesliga titles and one Champions League.
