Daescia Demoranville, who goes by the nickname Daisy, is the reigning Miss Rhode Island 2018 and will be competing in the upcoming Miss USA pageant. The 22-year-old native of Johnston succeeded 2017 winner Kelsey Swanson. In the past six years, Miss Rhode Island USA has finished second runner-up (Anea Garcia, 2015) and won the Miss USA competition (Olivia Culpo, 2012), so DeMoranville has will enter the competition with high expectations.
Daisy has a Baking and Pastry Arts degree and is pursuing a second degree in Food Service Management.
She hopes to use her platform as Miss Rhode Island USA, and potentially Miss USA 2018, “to be able to advocate for domestic violence and the other connected social issues.”

Miss USA takes place Monday, May 21 at Hirsch Memorial Coliseum in Shreveport, Louisiana. The pageant will air live on FOX. The Miss Universe pageant will take place at a yet-to-be-determined date.
