Early Life
Al Horford was born in the town of Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic. He grew up watching his father, Tito Horford, play professional basketball overseas and three years in the NBA. In 2000, Horford’s family moved to Lansing, Michigan and Horford attended Grand Ledge High School. From there, Horford went on to the University of Florida, where he led the team to back to back national championships in 2006 and 2007. Horford was then selected by the Atlanta Hawks third overall in the 2007 NBA Draft.
2007-2016
Horford was a unanimous selection for 2007-08 All NBA Rookie First Team. He’s won Rookie of the Month four times and finished second in Rookie of the Year voting to then Seattle Supersonic Kevin Durant.
