The daughter of an actress and the product of the Julliard School, Morena Baccarin had a lot of pressure on her shoulders when she entered the world of acting. Early Life
Baccarin was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, daughter of Vera Setta, an actress, and Fernando Baccarin, a Journalist. Her family moved to Greenwich Village, New York when she was seven years old. She attended public schools until she was enrolled in Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts. From there, she moved onto the theatre program at the Julliard School.
Career
Shortly after graduating from Julliard, Baccarin got herself her first role in the movie Perfume. This was followed by a leading role in the film Way Off Broadway, for which she won an award at the Wine Country Film Festival for Best Actress. From here, Baccarin went on to star in the short but much-loved cult TV show hit Firefly, as well as reprising her role from the show for the movie Serenity.
After Firefly, she guest starred in a number of TV shows, until she grabbed herself a leading role on the show V. She stayed with that show for two seasons before moving onto a bigger role in the show Homeland. Another show that gathered a huge and devoted following, Baccarin was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her role as the wife of a former prisoner of war.
In 2015, she started her most recent and current role, as Dr. Leslie Thompkins on Fox’s show Gotham. Her performance here gave way to her casting along with Ryan Reynolds in the movie Deadpool. Today, she is a regular on Gotham and will be alongside Reynolds once again in Deadpool 2. She is currently married to her Gotham co-star Ben McKenzie.
