Alexa Grasso is one of the most promising up-and-comers in the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s strawweight division. At just 24-years-old, the Guadalajara, Mexico native holds a professional mixed martial arts record of 10-1 and is currently ranked No. 9 at 115-pounds in the UFC. She got the call-up to the top promotion in MMA back in November 2016 and has gone 2-1under the UFC banner.

Grasso made her pro-MMA debut in her home country of Mexico in December 2012. Wasting no time, Grasso rattled off five consecutive victories in 18 months. Two of those victories were inside of the Invicta FC cage when she began her step up in competition. After a Fight of the Night win over Mizuki Inoue and a Performance of the Night victory over Jodie Equibel, Grasso had firmly established herself as one of the top prospects in women’s MMA.

Then, she got the call to the big leagues.

Grasso defeated Heather Jo Clark in her UFC debut at The Ultimate Fighter Latin America 3 Finale: dos Anjos vs. Ferguson in November 2016 to advance her record to 9-0. Then, she lost a few months later to Felice Herrig for the first defeat of her professional career. Grasso bounced back six months later with a win over Randa Markos in Mexico City — where two of her UFC appearances have taken place — but she failed to make weight ahead of the bout. Following her win over Markos, Grasso underwent knee surgery to repair her meniscus.

Now that she is healthy and ready to return to action, Grasso will be entering the octagon at Movistar Arena in Santiago, Chile on Saturday, May 19 against Tatiana Suarez, a former TUF champion, in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night 129. The event — which airs on FOX Sports 1 — will be headlined by a welterweight bout between Demian Maia and Kamaru Usman.
