2018 Kentucky Derby Viewing Details:

Date: Saturday, May 5, 2018
Start Time: 6:34 P.M. ET
TV Channel: NBC
Location: Louisville, Kentucky
Live Stream: NBC Sports Live

1. Firenze Fire (50-1)

Owner: Mr. Amore Stable
Trainer: Jason Servis
Jockey: Paco Lopez
Bio: Drawing the 1st post position and winning the Kentucky Derby would take a special type of performance. Unfortunately for Firenze Fire it seems unlikely he is that type of horse.

2. Free Drop Billy (30-1)

Owner: Albaugh Family Stables LLC
Trainer: Dale L. Romans
Jockey: Robby Albarado
Bio: Coming out of the 2nd post does not bode well for Free Drop Billy, historically it has ended horses chances of winning before the race has began.

3. Promises Fulfilled (30-1)

Owner: Robert J. Baron
Trainer: Dale L. Romans
Jockey: Corey J. Lanerie
Bio: The speed and talent is there for Promises Fulfilled, but it is unlikely he will be able to fulfill the promise of having enough stamina to win the Kentucky Derby.

4. Flameaway (30-1)

Owner: John C. Oxley
Trainer: Mark E. Casse
Jockey: Jose Lezcano
Bio: Flameaway has proven he can run on any type of course. If weather conditions take a turn for the worse Flameaway will be one of the most prepared to handle the conditions.

5. Audible (8-1)

Owner: WinStar Farm LLC, China Horse Club International Ltd. and SF Racing LLC
Trainer: Todd A. Pletcher
Jockey: Javier Castellano
Bio: One of four horses trained by Todd Pletcher and is the best of the four. Audible is coming off a victory at the Florida Derby.

6. Good Magic (12-1)

Owner: Five Racing Thoroughbreds and Stonestreet Stables LLC
Trainer: Chad C. Brown
Jockey: Jose L. Ortiz
Bio: Good Magic is the son of Curlin, the 2-time Horse of the Year. The horse has good stamina and should not fade late down the stretch. Good Magic has finished in the top 3 each of the past four races.

7. Justify (3-1)

Owner: China Horse Club, Head of Plains Partners LLC, Starlight Racing, WinStar Farm
Trainer: Bob Baffert
Jockey: Mike E. Smith
Bio: Justify is the favorite heading into the Derby. The horse did not race at all as a 2-year-old. The last derby winner that didn’t race the year before was in 1882. Justify won the Santa Anita Derby in April.

8. Lone Sailor (50-1)

Owner: Tom Benson
Trainer: Thomas A. Amoss
Jockey: James Graham
Bio: The colt is one of the long shots in the race but the horse has performed well against other Derby contestants Free Drop Billy and Bravazo. Lone Sailor finished 2nd at the Louisiana Derby.

9. Hofburg (20-1)

Owner: Juddmonte Farms Inc.
Trainer: William I. Mott
Jockey: Irad Ortiz, Jr.
Bio: Hofburg is one of the least experienced horses in the field. The horse did have a very good showing at the Florida Derby finishing in 2nd place behind Audible.

10. My Boy Jack (30-1)

Owner: Don’t Tell My Wife Stables And Monomoy Stables, LLC
Trainer: J. Keith Desormeaux
Jockey: Kent J. Desormeaux
Bio: My Boy Jack is the most experienced horse in the Derby field. Finished 3rd in the Louisiana Derby. If you thought the owner’s name was a bit odd, there is a funny story behind it. Michael Gualtieri as he is buying the horse uttered the phrase “Don’t tell my wife”. She subsequently found out on Facebook a few days later.

11. Bolt d’Oro (8-1)

Owner: Ruis Racing LLC
Trainer: Mick Ruis
Jockey: Victor Espinoza
Bio: Bolt d’Oro is ridden by hall of fame jockey Victor Espinoza, who completed the Triple Crown feat with American Pharoah in 2015. Bolt d’Oro is more than capable of winning the Derby.

12. Enticed (30-1)

Owner: Godolphin Racing LLC
Trainer: Kiaran P. McLaughlin
Jockey: Junior Alvarado
Bio: Enticed comes from one the strongest pedigrees in the field. The horse won the Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes back in Nov. 2017 at Churchill Downs.

13. Bravazo (50-1)

Owner: Calumet Farm
Trainer: D. Wayne Lukas
Jockey: Luis Contreras
Bio: Bravazo has displayed the ability to win from any position. The horse does not have a strong pedigree. Finished 8th at the Louisiana Derby in March.

14. Mendelssohn (5-1)

Owner: Derrick Smith, Mrs. John Magnier & Micheal Tabor
Trainer: A P O’Brien
Jockey: Ryan Moore
Bio: Mendelssohn is coming off a very impressive victory at the $2 million UAE Derby. The horse had to travel over the Atlantic to get to the Derby; the travel can have an adverse effect as we have seen in the past.

15. Instilled Regard (50-1)

Owner: OXO Equine LLC
Trainer: Jerry Hollander
Jockey: Drayden Van Dyke
Bio: Instilled Regard has a strong pedigree. The horse finished fourth at the Santa Anita Derby in April.

16. Magnum Moon (6-1)

Owner: Low, Lawana L. and Robert E.
Trainer: Todd A. Pletcher
Jockey: Luis Saez
Bio: One of four horses trained by Todd Pletcher. Magnum Moon is one of the favorites in the field. The horse has won his past two races, Rebel Stakes and Arkansas Derby.

17. Solomini (30-1)

Owner: Zayat Stables, LLC
Trainer: Bob Baffert
Jockey: Flavien Prat
Bio: One of two Bob Baffert trained horses. Solomini has shown glimpses but not enough to really get behind the horse. The colt finished 3rd in the Arkansas Derby.

18. Vino Rosso (12-1)

Owner: Repole Stable and St. Elias Stable
Trainer: Todd A. Pletcher
Jockey: John R. Velazquez
Bio: One of four Todd Pletcher trained horses. The horse has good stamina, and his pedigree is in long distance.

19. Noble Indy (30-1)

Owner: WinStar Farm LCC and Repole Stable
Trainer: Todd A. Pletcher
Jockey: Florent Geroux
Bio: One of four Todd Pletcher trainer horses. In Noble Indy’s most recent race the colt won the Louisiana Derby Stakes. The horse tends to burn out late, and the 1 1/4 mile distance could be a problem.

20. Combatant (50-1)

Owner: Winchell Thoroughbreds LLC and Willis Horton Racing LLC
Trainer: Steven M. Asmussen
Jockey: Ricardo Santana, Jr.
Bio: The Derby will be the Combatant’s longest race. Combatant finished 4th at the Arkansas Derby in April on a 1 1/8 mile track.
