Witney Carson is a 24-year-old professional dancer, choreographer, and actress who is one of the pros on ABC’s hit show “Dancing With The Stars.” Prior to time as a professional partner on the dance competition, Carson was the second runner-up on season 9 of “So You Think You Can Dance” at just 18-years-old.
Within her first two seasons on DWTS, Carson captured the mirror ball trophy with her partner Alfonso Ribeiro, who played Carlton Banks on “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.” That same season, Carson was nominated for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Choreography.
Carson is just one of five pros on “Dancing With The Stars” to win the title within her first two seasons.
As a professional dance partner, Carson has been partnered with Cody Simpson, Ribeiro, Chris Soules, Carlos PenaVega, Von Miller, Vanilla Ice, Chris Kattan, and Frankie Muniz.
Carson returns to the dance floor for a special all-athlete edition of the show where she will be partnered with Olympian Chris Mazdzer, who earned the gold medal at the 2018 Winter Olympics in luge.
She is married to Carson McAllister.
Carson was born in American Fork, Utah and began dancing at the age of three. She trained in ballet, jazz, hip hop, ballroom, tap, and many other disciplines which led to her success as a professional.
If you take any advice from Carson, let it be this: the key to success is eating healthy and sleep.
“Being so active with dance and just the craziness of life, I have to get my sleep,” she said in an interview with ToneItUp.com. “If I don’t get a full night’s rest I feel sluggish and not my best self. That also goes for eating the right foods, too! If I eat junk food or big greasy foods my body can’t sustain on that. Eating whole, clean foods really helps me to feel energized!”
You can catch Carson on the “Dancing with the Stars: Athletes” premiere Monday, April 30 at 8/7c on ABC.
