Dr. Ronny Jackson is an American medical doctor, Physician to the President, and United States Navy rear admiral. He was recently nominated by President Trump to head the Department of Veteran Affairs. Reports circulated after his nomination of workplace allegations that included drinking on the job and improper handling of prescription drugs. Amid the allegations, that Jackson denies, he has withdrawn his name to head the VA.

Much of his net worth can be attributed to his work as the White House physician, a spot he has held since 2006. He has directed the Executive Health Care for the President’s Cabinet and senior staff, served as physician supervisor for the Camp David Presidential Retreat, and led the White House Medical Unit as its director.

Ronny Lynn Jackson was born in Levelland, Texas on May, 4th, 1967. He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Biology from Texas A&M. Upon graduation, Jackson would attend medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch, receiving his Doctorate of Medicine degree.


1995-2005

After earning his medical degree, Jackson joined the naval service working for the American Board of Medical Emergency. He would later become qualified in submarine and hyperbaric medicine which led to him becoming the instructor at the Naval Diving and Salvage Training Center.

In 2001, Jackson began his emergency medicine residency at Portsmouth Naval Medical Center, where he would finish top of his class graduating with honors. After the completion of his residency, Jackson was deployed to Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was in charge of resuscitative medicine for a forward deployed Surgical Shock Trauma Platoon in Taqaddum, Iraq.


2006-present

Upon his return from Iraq, Jackson was selected by then-President George W. Bush as the White House physician. During his time in the White House, he held many positions, Executive Health Care for the President’s Cabinet and senior staff, served as physician supervisor for the Camp David Presidential Retreat.

After the Bush presidency ended, President Obama decided to keep Jackson on as the White House physician. Jackson would go on to serve in that same role for President Donald Trump, spanning a total of three presidencies.

On March, 28th, 2018 President Trump nominated Jackson as the head of the Department of Veteran Affairs. The nomination process was delayed amid allegations of hostile workplace violations. Ultimately, Jackson would withdraw his name due to the accusations.
