Chris Pratt is an American actor best known for Parks and Recreation, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Jurassic World. Pratt has an estimated net worth of $40 million dollars. With two summer blockbusters coming up, I have no doubt his figure is only destined to rise.
Chris Pratt’s Net Worth as of 2018: $40 Million
Over the course of Pratt’s career, he has earned somewhere in the range of $40 Million. He was able to do rack up this amount through his acting contracts as well as appearing in advertisements. Let’s take a look at Pratt’s career and how he got to this point!
Early Years
Chris Pratt was born June 21, 1979, in Minnesota but was raised in Washington State. While an athlete in high school, Pratt was never destined for academics. He dropped out of college, became a stripper, and eventually moved to Hawaii where he was homeless living in a tent on the beaches of Maui.
2000–2012
When he was nineteen, Pratt began waiting tables and shortly after was “discovered” and moved to Los Angeles. His played the role of Bright Abbott on the series Everwood, where he dated his co-star, Emily VanCamp.
It wasn’t until 2009 that Pratt landed mainstream success on the NBC comedy series Parks and Recreation. He was a breakout star of the series and was bumped up to a season regular just after the first season. This success brought about many opportunities. Pratt landed roles in prominent films such as Moneyball, Zero Dark Thirty, and Her. He attributed missing out on many roles due to his weight fluctuation, however, he seemed to overcome this in the future.
2013–present
While trying to break into leading man status, Pratt had little luck in the beginning. He lost out on notable roles such as the lead in Avatar, as well as Captain Kirk in the Star Trek reboot films. When approached to play Peter Quill in Guardians of the Galaxy, he dismissed the offer for fear of failure. However, after being persuaded by the casting director along with director James Gunn, Pratt accepted a role that would forever change the trajectory of his career. Guardians of the Galaxy became the highest-grossing film of 2014 in North America
In 2014 Pratt also starred in The Lego Movie, another film that broke box-office records. Amidst all his success, this same year tragedy struck. His father, Daniel Clifton Pratt, passed away from multiple sclerosis. The loss of his father deeply impacted Chris and he publicly stated it took years to accept the loss. During his work on Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2, his character reconnected with his biological father, only to realize the man that raised him was truly the father-figure he always longed for after all. This material finally gave him closure in accepting his own father’s death to which he credits director James Gunn for providing him with such strong material.
He replaced Josh Brolin as the lead in the 2015 film, Jurassic World, now looking to break box-office records again this summer with the sequel, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. He has since starred in films such as The Magnificent Seven and Passengers.
On April 21, 2017, Pratt received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
