Pom Klementieff’s stock has absolutely skyrocketed over the course of the past year, thanks in no small part to being a part of one of the most successful cinematic undertakings in history. Currently, Klementieff portrays Mantis in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Klementieff first appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and is now a full-fledged member of the comic book super team. She’s set to have a role in the massive film Avengers: Infinity War.
Klementieff was born on May 3rd, 1986, in Quebec City, Canada to a Korean mother and a French-Russian father. Her father was a French diplomat, so Klementieff traveled a lot when she was young, living in Canada, Japan, the Ivory Coast, before settling down in France.
Tragically, her father committed suicide when Klementieff was just five years old, and her mother was a diagnosed schizophrenic, so Klementieff was raised by her aunt and uncle. She briefly attended law school, before leaving to begin a career in acting.
She appeared in a variety of movies once she got her start, beginning in French cinema before making her Hollywood debut in Spike Lee’s remake of the Korean film Oldboy. Following that film, Klementieff moved to Los Angeles. She got her big break when she was cast as Mantis in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
She is indeed on the rise in the acting world, and frankly, we can’t wait to see where she goes to next.
