J. Cole released his newest album, “KOD”, this morning.The announcement came earlier this week after Cole performed a special free show in New York City and sang his new album. After the show, Cole tweeted out that his much anticipated fifth album would come out at the end of this week. The 33-year old Cole hasn’t released a new album since 2016, but we’ve got the lowdown on how to stream and download the newest recording. The album reportedly took two weeks to record.
According to Cole, the three meanings of ‘KOD’ are: Kidz on Drugz, King Overdose, and Kill our Demonz.
Cole’s last album, 4 Your Eyez Only, was certified both gold and platinum by the RIAA. At the beginning of 2017, Cole recorded a single track, “High for Hours” and shortly afterward announced his 4 Your Eyez Only Tour that took him all around North America, Europe, and Australia. Cole also made waves with a special project he collaborated on with HBO named J. Cole: 4 Your Eyez Only. The film debuted on April 15, 2017, and was directed by Cole himself.
This is not the first time Cole has dropped an album like ‘KOD’ on such short notice. Cole has used these tactics in the past with his third album, “2014 Forrest Hills Drive” and his fourth album, “4 Your Eyez Only”.
From the show, he did perform, Cole’s ‘KOD’ will have 10-12 tracks on it. And that the last track has the title, “1985”.
