Ah, yes Coachella. The annual music and arts festival in California is known for a few things: beautiful celebrities, drugs, and hella good performances. It’s not even over, but Coachella 2018 has already caused an unbelievable stir online.

Most people are focused on Beyonce and her performance, with good reason. She reunited with Destiny’s Child, performed all the hits you remember from your middle and high school dances. Oh, she also brought out her husband, which was nice I think. He’s a relatively unknown rapper named Jay-Z, you may have heard of him.

But anyway, following hot on the heels of Queen Bey, was Slim Shady himself, Eminem. The rapper is a legend, no one is disputing that. His albums Infinite, The Slim Shady LP, The Marshall Mathers LP, and The Eminem Show are certified hip-hop classics.

However, his most recent work is contentious at best. Some like it, praising his raw emotion and talking about his struggles with substance abuse, but some people long for the days of old Eminem when he was rapping about killing people. Different strokes for different folks I guess.

On April 15th, Eminem performed as one of the headliners for Coachella 2018. In addition to putting on a hell of a setlist, including hits like “My Name Is,” “Stan,” & “Lose Yourself,” Shady brought out his mentor Dr. Dre, as well as his mentee, 50 Cent.

Anytime Eminem and Dr. Dre get back together, whether it be in the studio or on stage, you know it’s gonna be something special. The two legends always know how to bring the heat, and they did what they do best at Coachella this year.

Shady also brought out the guy whose career he helped build–50 Cent. Eminem and 50 have made appearances on each other’s songs for years, but one of, if the not THE best, collaborations they did was on 50’s debut album Get Rich or Die Tryin’. Lucky for us, they performed it at Coachella.

Coachella isn’t over yet, and if the first weekend is any indication, I think we’re in for an unforgettable festival.
