2,500 Xanax Bars Seized From ECU Fraternity

Over 2,500 bars of Xanax were seized from a fraternity at East Carolina University. Following the drug bust, four arrests were made at ECU’s Phi Kappa Tau fraternity house.

According to reports, on Tuesday, April 10, the Greenville Regional Drug Task Force conducted a search warrant at the Phi Kappa Tau fraternity house, which is located at 409 Elizabeth Street. The search warrant was the culmination of a three-week long investigation.

In addition to the Xanax bars, police said that two shotguns were seized and marijuana was being sold from the home. The fraternity has been placed on interim suspension as a result of the arrests.

Grant Swanner, 20, faces the following charges:

PWISD Sch IV (3 Counts)
Maintain Dwelling (3 Counts)
Poss of alcohol underage
Poss of Drug paraphernalia

Nolan Leonard, 19, faces the following charges:

· PWISD Sch IV
· Maintain Dwelling
· Poss of up to 1/2 oz of marijuana
· Poss drug paraphernalia

Jordan Kowalski, 20, faces the following charges:

PWISD Marijuana
Maintain Dwelling

William Carter, 20, faces the following charges:

Poss Drug paraphernalia
Poss alcohol under 21

According to ECU, Swanner, Leonard and Kowalski are students at the university. Xanax is a potent, short-acting benzodiazepine anxiolytic—a minor tranquilizer that is commonly used for the treatment of anxiety disorders, especially of panic disorder, but also in the treatment of generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) or social anxiety disorder
