The Early Years
Miller is a native of Colorado and attended Graland Country Day School, Denver’s East High School, and George Washington University in Washington, D.C. While in college, he was a member of the comedy group, receSe, and the Lambda chapter of Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity. While in school, he studied circus art while at the Frichess Theatre Urbain in Paris and attended the British American Drama Academy in London, where he studied Shakespeare.
2004-2008
After school, Miller went to Chicago to break into comedy, with improvisation and stand-up; performing with various troupes, he even toured with The Second City for two years. One of his first television appearances was on Chelsea Lately, later appearing on the short-lived ABC series, Carpoolers. In 2008, Miller made his film debut in Cloverfield; although his only appeared onscreen for a short while in the film, his voice could be heard throughout, as his character videotaped the story.
2010-2013
Starting in 2010, he also started to make appearances on Conan. In 2011, he had his own stand-up special, titled No Real Reason, on Comedy Central; he also hosted a special, Mash Up, which spun-off into its own series. In 2012, be broke out into voice acting, notably appearing in the cult-classic cartoon, Gravity Falls; he would continue his career in voice acting with films like How To Train Your Dragon. The following year, he appeared in the midseason replacement, The Goodwin Games, for Fox.
2014-Present
In 2014, Miller starred in the HBO series, Silicon Valley. The same year, he appeared in the Disney film, Big Hero 6. In 2017, he voiced the main character, Meh, in The Emoji Movie. In 2016, Miller also appeared in Deadpool. The same year, he was arrested and jailed in Los Angeles over allegedly assaulting an Uber driver over a political argument. In 2018, he was arrested in April on federal charges relating to a fake bomb threat made while on an Amtrak train, alleging that he placed an emergency call to report a female passenger had a bomb on her person while travelling; eventually released on a $100,000 bond following an appearance at a federal court hearing, he could risk up to five years in prison over the incident.
