Amy Nowaczyk, a teacher at Morton Middle School in Omaha, Nebraska, was placed on administrative leave, pending the results of an investigation from Douglas County Corrections concerning her alleged enticing a minor under the age of 16 and the first-degree sexual assault of a child.
What happened?
According to Omaha police, it is believed that Nowaczyk had engaged in a sexual act with a student, as well as allegedly sharing an inappropriate picture with the victim. The Omaha World-Herald identified the victim as being 13 year old.
According to KMTV, the police issued the following letter to parents in the district concerning the case, confirming that the district is working with the investigation:
“While we cannot comment on personnel or student issues specifically, we wanted to share with you that we are taking these allegations very seriously. It is our practice to report any allegation of inappropriate contact with a student, regardless of whether it involves staff, fellow students, parents or community members. We report information to local law enforcement and to Child Protective Services.”
“We also believe it is critically important to continue to work with the student and their family to do all we can to ensure their well-being. The safety and security of our students is our top priority.”
According to the Omaha World-Herald, Morton Principal Sherri Wehr also issued the following statement to parents:

Who is Amy Nowaczyk?
Nowaczyk is a social studies teacher who has worked with the school since August of 2015; she was 25 at the time of the arrest.
Nowaczyk made her first court appearance on April 6, 2018, during the after noon; her bond was set at $375,000.
