According to an anonymous source, the Women’s Rowing Team at George Washington University is currently being investigated under Title IX jurisdiction.

This source tells COED that the Women’s Rowing Team at GWU is allegedly being investigated under Title IX due to an offensive picture circulated by members of the team on social media over the last few days.

They went on to say that the picture in question allegedly “targets and publicly humiliates a member of the men’s rowing team, depicting him as a dog, with an associated humiliating caption.”

Our source says the alleged offensive photo is an edit of a promotional poster that was being used for this weekend’s George Washington Invite. Our source says the photo edit allegedly reads “Come out and support the dogs this weekend at the George Washington invite.”

The GW Athletic Department is “supposedly leading the charge in the investigation, but has been slow to respond to the offensive, humiliating and derogatory posting that directly singles out and targets one member of the men’ s rowing team.” The source also claims that the women’s rowing team was recently investigated over inappropriate alcohol-related photos that were also posted on social media.

Furthermore, the individuals allegedly responsible for sharing the offensive photo on social media have yet to admit any wrongdoing.

We reached out to Andre Julien, the Senior Associate Athletics Director and sports administrator for Men’s and Women’s Rowing, however, he did not answer our call for comment.
