Nasim Aghdam has been identified as the woman responsible for the shooting at the YouTube headquarters that left one dead and three injured. Aghdam was reportedly a “disgruntled” YouTube user who had her own YouTube channel.

San Bruno Police Chief Ed Barberini confirmed that Aghdam died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Three people were injured in the shooting, with one victim being critically injured. At this time, none of the victims have been identified. Furthermore, none of the victims were killed.

According to ABC, the gunshot victims were taken to Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, which is the only Level 1 trauma center in the city. Brent Andrew, a spokesperson at San Francisco General Hospital, the hospital treated three people – a 36-year-old man in critical condition and two women, ages 36 and 27. The extent of the injuries is not known.

Authorities said they do not believe that the shooting was connected to terrorism.

via ABC:

A woman opened fire Tuesday at YouTube headquarters, wounding three people before fatally shooting herself as terrified employees huddled inside, police and witnesses said. After receiving multiple 911 calls reporting gunfire, officers and federal agents swarmed the company’s suburban campus sandwiched between two interstates in the San Francisco Bay Area city of San Bruno.

YouTube employee Dianna Arnspiger said she was on the building’s second floor when she heard gunshots, ran to a window and saw the shooter on a patio outside. She said the woman wore glasses and a scarf and was using a “big huge pistol.”

Officers discovered one victim with a gunshot wound when they arrived and then found the shooter with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound several minutes later, San Bruno Police Chief Ed Barberini said. He said two additional gunshot victims were later located at an adjacent business and that a fourth injured person suffered an ankle injury.

On her website, Aghdam claimed to be a vegan and a PETA activist who was being”filtered” by YouTube. NBC reports that the license plate on a car towed from YouTube’s campus Tuesday was registered to Aghdam. In 2014, she posted a video on YouTube of what appears to be the same car, stating that it was vandalized by “anti-vegans” because the car had a sign saying “meat is murder.”

The YouTube headquarters in San Bruno is located about 13 miles south of San Francisco.

President Trump was briefed on the shooting, which was reported around 1 p.m. PST. President Trump tweeted the following statement regarding the shooting around 5:45 p.m. EST:

“Was just briefed on the shooting at YouTube’s HQ in San Bruno, California. Our thoughts and prayers are with everybody involved. Thank you to our phenomenal Law Enforcement Officers and First Responders that are currently on the scene.”

A 2009 San Diego Tribune article with a Nasim Aghdam pictured has been circulating the web, although there has been no confirmation as to whether that is the same Aghdam responsible for the YouTube headquarters shooting.

According to the New York Times, an F.B.I. study found that women were responsible for only six of 160 mass shootings in the United States from 2000 to 2013. In 2017, the United States had a total of 346 mass shootings. According to data from the Gun Violence Archive, a total of 57 mass shooting incidents have occurred in 2018 at the time of this writing.
