The Omega Psi Phi fraternity knows that every child, despite their current situation in life, deserves to have a happy Easter. In a story that is sure to warm your heart, on April 1st, the brothers of Omega Psi Phi in New Orleans delivered Easter baskets to children at area hospitals, as well as transitional housing shelters. The fraternity has been doing this for over 20 years, and it is something they look forward to every Easter season.

Charles Allen, a member of Omega Psi Phi, said: “When we get to the hospitals and the transitional housing shelters the faces and the eyes just light up, people are really touched, and we are humbled in doing this service here…That was moving, moving. They were excited about our offering and excited about the bonding today, you know that’s what this is all about…uplifting spirits…every step of the way,”” Humble words from a charitable man.

The brothers make sure that every child receives a basket and gets to know what it means to have a happy Easter. Chuck Brown, the chairman of the fraternity, had this to say: “Every child…we don’t miss one child in the city of New Orleans who is in a hospital, they’re serviced, and every child who is in a known transitional housing shelter here is serviced today.”

The hospital, regardless of the time of year, can be an especially lonely place to be. It’s loud, and there are people always running around so any sort of visit such as this one can boost someone’s, particularly a child’s, spirts. In addition to Tulane Lakeside Hospital for Women and Children in Metairie, Louisiana, the brothers also visited Ochsner Medical Center and donated Easter baskets to the Salvation Army.
