Kansas State University is a public university in Manhattan, Kansas and was opened as the first public institution of higher learning in the state of Kansas. The university, which is home to more than 22,000 graduate and undergraduate students, was founded in 1863 as the state’s land-grant college. It is the oldest public university in the state of Kansas and its parent institution is the Kansas Board of Regents. The school’s motto is “Rule by Obeying Nature’s Laws.”

The current school president is Richard Myers, who leads an academic staff of more than 1,400.

Since 1986, Kansas State University ranks first nationally in the number of Rhodes, Truman, Marshall and Goldwater scholars with 124 recipients. It also serves as a research facility for agricultural studies and also for new means of biodefense.

Kansas State Wildcats Cheerleaders

The Kansas State cheer program is led by head cheerleading and mascot coach Dani Ruoff. Currently, the Wildcats are preparing to host tryouts for the upcoming season and they welcome all potential new members.

Kansas State has strict standards, including a social media policy according to the tryout handbook for the 2018-19 season.

Attitudes and /or egos shall be left at the door. Any past accomplishments in cheer/dance/ stunting or otherwise, carry little weight in the selection process. The K-State Cheer coaching staff has the right to remove any participant at any time for bad attitude, harassment (which also includes all forms of social media,) or failure to follow safety guidelines and regulations for stunting or general safety of the program.

The 2017-18 Kansas State men’s basketball program is once again dancing in the NCAA Tournament, after a 24-11 finish in the loaded Big 12 Conference. The Wildcats are led by sixth-year head coach Bruce Weber.

Kansas State earned an at-large bid to March Madness where they began the tournament as a No. 9 seed in the South Regional.

After a win over No. 8 seed Creighton in the First Round and a narrow victory over UMBC, the first No. 16 seed to knock off a No. 1 seed in the opening round in tournament history, the Wildcats find themselves in the Sweet 16 where they will take on No. 5 seed Kentucky.
