The 2017-2018 UEFA Champions League has been going on since June 27, 2017, and in two months on May 26, 2018, it will come to an end. The European premier club soccer tournament is in its 63rd season. Real Madrid came out as the winners of last season after a 4-1 victory over Juventus. Now everyone is looking to see who will claim this year’s title as winners of the 2017-2018 Champions League. Currently, there are eight teams left. Of the teams remaining, there are two English, three Spanish, two Italian and one German. Here are the top three teams to look out for.
FC Barcelona
With forward Lionel Messi who just reached his 100th UEFA Champions League goal after scoring two goals against Chelsea on March 14, Barcelona stands as a strong contender for claiming the title. They are ranked third in the UEFA club and have consistently performed well throughout the tournament with their excellent dribbling skills, continual movement, and impressive central attack. Despite having some minor defensive issues, Barcelona’s future looks bright.
Real Madrid CF
As returning winners of last season, Real Madrid looks promising especially after their recent 3-1 win over Paris Saint Germain. Forward Cristiano Ronaldo’s 117 goals scored in the league along with his title of being the all-time record goalscorer in the history of European soccer helps make a convincing argument for why Real Madrid is among the top three favorites to win. The team is currently ranked first in the UEFA club. Though Real Madrid has appeared to struggle a bit in their local league, they have remained a competing force in the Champions League.
FC Bayern Munich
With a potent backline and an intimidating midfield, Bayern Munich’s chances to win look hopeful. They are ranked second in the UEFA club. As the best soccer team in Germany, Bayern excels at keeping possession in the middle of the field and then feeding the flanks to spread their opponent’s defense wide. Bayern is always known to make it to the later rounds of the Champions League, so it is no surprise that they are included on this list.
The Champion League Final is to be played in Kiev, Ukraine at the Olimpiyskiy National Sports Complex on Saturday, May 26, 2018.
