Saint Joseph’s Rugby Player Goes Missing In Bermuda

Police are searching for Mark Dombroski, a 19-year-old Saint Joseph’s University student who went missing in Bermuda while on a school trip with his college rugby team. Dombroski, a freshman at Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, was visiting Hamilton, Bermuda, with his the rugby team when he went missing early Sunday morning.

According to reports, Dombroski was last seen at a popular bar on the island, as surveillance footage shows him The Dog House bar shortly before he went missing after 1 a.m. Dombroski was wearing a green T-shirt and khaki shorts.

During a press conference on Monday, March 19, police said there is no indication if Dombroski was intoxicated when he disappeared.

Dombroski, who is described as a 6-feet tall white male with blonde hair, was last seen on footage at 1:15 a.m. He was reported missing around 9:15 a.m. on Sunday, March 18. Police do not believe he made it back to the team hotel.

Surveillance video from an island-wide CCTV system captured Dombroski walking alone down Middle Road in Devonshire Parish around 1:15 a.m. while using a cellphone. The last place he was spotted is about 1.2 kilometers from the bar. He appeared to be favoring his shoulder, which he may have injured during the rugby tournament, Dombroski’s mother Lisa, who viewed the video, said.

Dombroski’s parents, Lisa and John, joined Bermuda investigators at a midday news conference Monday and thanked everyone efforts on finding Dombroski. Police have already used on-land and marine search teams in Hamilton Harbour in their search for him.

Dombroski, a freshman, was set to return to America along with the Philadelphia university’s team on Sunday. It was unclear Monday morning if all of his teammates had made the trip.

The Bermuda Rugby Sevens organization is offering a $1,000 reward for information about Dombroski’s whereabouts. Authorities are asking anyone with photos, videos, or information to contact police at 441-295-0011.
