Reports have come out of a shooting near Broadway Bridge in Portland Oregon, with at least one woman shot and laying near a Volvo at the west end of the bridge, with another man shot in his back shoulder; as police are searching for the suspect, they are blocking off the area, which is being considered an ongoing crime scene.
The Portland OR Alerts Twitter page, which is not connected to an official agency and is not confirmed, issued the following updates to the story:
“Portland: police to west end of the Broadway Bridge, report of a female shot and laying near a Volvo, possible shooter was seen running towards the train tracks, possibly a bald white male wearing a black leather jacket #pdxtraffic #AvoidTheArea”
“Update Shooting: shooting happened under the Broadway Bridge on NW Naito Parkway, officer on scene says that a male was shot in the shoulder in the back, suspect may have run towards the train tracks near Union Station, active crime scene-stay away
“Update Shooting: shooter may be a known transient, police are locking down the area, please stay away as it is a ongoing crime scene and the shooter is still outstanding, expect streets blocked from Broadway Bridge to Steel Bridge, #pdxtraffic #AvoidTheArea”
What do we know so far?
At this time, little can be confirmed about the victims’ injuries or if they are life-threatening.
Oregon Live confirmed that police were responding to the area and that Northbound lanes on Naito Parkway were closed off. Although earlier reports mentioned that both a man and a woman were found injured, the publication said that only one victim had been confirmed; it is also unclear if either the man or woman mentioned above were either identified as the victim.
According to Katu 2, police are employing a canine team to help search for the victim.
