Ruby Riott is the fearless leader of The Riott Squad, featured every week on WWE SmackDown Live. She’s only been with the WWE for a short while, but she’s already one of the top wrestlers of their women’s division. This 27-year-old wrestler was already a decorated competitor long before she arrived in the WWE, winning a large handful of championships on the independent scene, including the AAW Heritage Championship, the RCW Heavyweight Championship, the OVW Women’s Championship, and even the A1 Alpha Male Championship.
Riott was first signed to a WWE contract on December 15, 2016. She made her NXT debut at a live event on January 13, 2017, losing to Daria Berenato (now known as Sonya Deville of Monday Night Raw’s Absolution). At the time, she went by the ring name of “Ruby Riot,” which turned to “Riott” later that year on the SmackDown brand. Ruby made her televised NXT debut on the March 22 episode of NXT, aligning herself with the likes of Tye Dillinger, No Way Jose and Roderick Strong, to battle the dark tandem called Sanity.
This punk rock pro wrestler didn’t find much success during her time with NXT. She fell to the background behind top talents such as Asuka and Ember Moon. But once she made her way to her way to SmackDown in November 2017, Ruby, along with her Riott Squad, were able to grab the attention of the WWE Universe by wrecking havoc from the ring to the women’s locker room.
On Sunday, March 11, 2018, Riott challenged Charlotte Flair for the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship at the Fastlane pay-per-view. She came up short, but not before putting on a hell of performance and dominating “The Queen” throughout the majority of the match.
What’s next for Ms. Ruby Riott. She’ll definitely continue to spread chaos alongside her Riott Squad stablemates Liv Morgan and Sarah Logan. The sky is the limit for Ruby Riott and her squad of destruction.
