Going, Going Green: Your Guide To Food Chains That Love St. Patrick’s Day

Mickey D’s got it goin’ on right now. Their $1, $2, $3 Menu is the best in fast food biz and yesterday they brought back Szechuan Sauce and the Shamrock Shake. It’s a beautiful time to be alive. The dollar menu is in a fist fight with inflation and its winning. And now, I can cheer on from the sidelines while rotating between gulps of whipped cream and sips of minty goodness.

The arrival of the Shamrock Shake means St. Patrick is doing his annual beckoning from above. He’s calling on all the fast food places to try something a little whacky. “Make it green,” he says. “And maybe add mint or some shit.” Brilliant stuff from the man who banished all the scary snakes from Ireland. Who knew he had such a knack for culinary arts?

You can never be too early in St. Patty’s day planning. That includes the food. Here are some popular food chains that are expected to go green for the March 17 festivities.

McDonald’s

Here’s a second mention and second pic of the Shamrock Shake so your eyes don’t feel cheated. The good news is these treats are available now. The bad news is they’re only in select restaurants. Don’t fret though –  fans have created a Shamrock Shake locator to help others get their hands on this work of art.

Bruegger’s Bagels

Bruegger’s has been a part of the St. Patty’s craze for years now with their green bagels. Looks kinda trippy but it works. The bakery also offers a deal that gives customer’s $2 off bagel bundles on Thursday, March 15.

California Tortilla

The mid-Atlantic Mexican eatery never disappoints on St. Patrick’s day. Every year on March 17, they offer a free order of green chips and queso with any purchase. All Cal Tort locations can be found here.

Krispy Kreme

This vid is sure to have you inspired and in full GREEN MODE. Through the magic of St. Patrick, Krispy Kreme’s original glazed donates go green on March 17.

Dairy Queen

DQ celebrates St. Patty by serving up their Mint Oreo Blizzard of the Month. This shake is served upside down the month of March… But is it better than a Shamrock Shake? Beats me. I’ve never tried it. I will and then get back to you.
