Katy Tur is the 34-year-old anchor of MSNBC Live who graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2005 with a bachelor’s in Philosophy. Tur reports for all platforms of NBC News, including Early Today, Today, NBC Nightly News, Meet the Press, WNBC-TV, MSNBC, and The Weather Channel.
Tur, the daughter of journalist Hanna Zoey Tur and Marika Gerrard, graduated from the luxurious Brentwood School before heading onto UCSB. Before landing at MSNBC, Tur reported for KTLA, News 12 Brooklyn, WPIX-TV, and Fox 5 New York. Later on, Tur worked as a storm chaser for The Weather Channel.
In 2017, Tur received the Walter Cronkite Award for Excellence in Journalism
Tur, who is fluent in Spanish, dated former MSNBC and ESPN anchor Keith Olbermann from 2006 to 2009.
