Sometimes, my boss will get mad at me for writing soccer articles simply because “I like the crap”, and while that notion is about 40% true, the truth is I try to deliver content I think the audience will enjoy. So when you show me a viral clip of Liverpool’s incredibly German manager, Jurgen Klopp, learning about the do’s and dont’s of the word “diarrhea”, I’m going to bring it to you. Poop will always be funny, especially when you watch an adult learn about how to properly discuss the matter it in real time. Plus, it’s 5 p.m. on a Friday, so I’m essentially in weekend mode.
At today’s press conference leading up to tomorrow’s Premier League game between Liverpool and Newcastle United (coached by former Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez), Klopp was discussing the health status of some of his players. When talking about a particular group of players who were ill instead of injured, Klopp said that while one of them was sick with a cold, the other two were sick with … diarrhea.
After a chorus of laughter, the English media was quick to advise Klopp that there’s a more, uh, public-appropriate phrase: “the runs.”
