On Friday, March 2nd, a shooter, now identified as James Davis, shot and killed two individuals in a Central Michigan University residence hall. As of 11:10 AM, Davis was still at large and being sought by police.
What happened?
It was reported on the morning of March 2nd, that two people on been shot in a residence hall on the campus of Central Michigan University. The suspect had fled the scene after the killings took place. It is known that the two victims were not CMU students. The violence appears to have arisen due to a domestic incident between Davis and the victims.
Who is James Eric Davis Jr.?
Courtney Hunter, a reporter for the local FOX affiliate, confirmed that the shooter’s name was James Davis., a 19-year-old black male. He has been described by Central Michigan University police as a “5-foot-10 black male, approximately 19 years old and weighing about 135 pounds. The City of Mount Pleasant earlier stated a suspect matching that description had been wearing mustard yellow pants, a blue hoodie and was considered armed and dangerous.”

At a press conference held around 12 p.m. EST, law enforcement officials confirmed that James Eric Davis Jr, 19, shot two individuals around 8:30 a.m. local time. Lieutenant Larry Klaus of the CMU PD confirmed that the incident took place in Campbell Hall. He did not know how many weapons are involved.
Klaus believes the situation involves a domestic dispute. Klaus called it “a domestic type family issue”, however, he “would not confirm” if the victims were his parents.
Central Michigan University police, Mt. Pleasant Police, Sherriff’s Office, Michigan State Police, and FBI are assisting in the search.
Davis Jr. was reportedly released from the Mclaren-Central Michigan due to a drug-related incident this morning.
