Hicks was born and raised in Greenwich, Connecticut, the daughter of Paul Burton Hicks III, the Regional CEO, Americas of Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide and executive vice president of communications for the National Football League, who would later become the managing director of the Glover Park Group. As a teenager, Hicks found worked as a model, first appearing in a local magazine in 2002. With her sister Mary Grace, she posed for a Ralph Lauren campaign; she later became the book cover model for the Hourglass Adventures novel series and the 2005 book The It Girl. While in high school, she was also the co-captain of her lacrosse team, graduating in 2006. She later went to Southern Methodist University, majoring in English and graduating in 2010.


2010-2014

Upon graduating, Hicks broke out into public relations with the New York City firm, Zeno Group. In 2012, she began working for public relations firm, Hiltzik Strategies, after meeting the firm’s founder at an NFL Super Bowl event. While there, one of the clients she worked with was Ivanka Trump, daughter of the future president of the United States, Donald Trump, for her fashion line. Once again working with Ivanka, this time inside Trump Tower, she helped expand her fashion label as well as modeling for her online store. By October, she began to work directly under Donald Trump.


2015-Present

By early 2015, Donald Trump personally chose Hicks for the role of press secretary for his presidential campaign. During the campaign, she served as an in-between for him, addressing members of the press who wanted to speak with him, also taking his dictation for his tweets. By later 2016, after Trump became the president-elect, it was announced that Hicks would join the Trump Administration, as the White House Director of Strategic Communications, a position created for her. The following year, it was announced that she was appointed permanent White House Communications Director on September 12, 2017. The following year, however, in 2018, she announced that she would resign after testifying in front of the House Intelligence Committee.
