The Michael B. Jordan takeover continues.
Barely a week after the release of the now global phenomenon Black Panther, in which he plays the villainous Killmonger, the trailer for Jordan’s next film Fahrenheit 451 has dropped. An HBO production, the movie adapts Ray Bradbury’s classic novel for TV.
Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451 tells the story of a dystopian future, where books that are deemed subversive to the ruling government are not only outlawed, they are burned. Jordan plays Guy Montag, a “fireman” (those that are tasked with burning the books), who gradually begins to lose faith in the government and their objectives. Michael Shannon plays Captain Beatty, Montag’s boss and the antagonist of the film. Sofia Boutella, Lilly Singh, Keir Dullea and Martin Donovan help round out the rest of the cast.
The director of the project, Ramin Bahrani, said today’s political climate provided the inspiration he needed for this undertaking. Speaking to The Wrap, Bahrani said: “I think it’s pretty obvious, right?” He continued:
“Politically things are going in a very strange direction in terms of what is real and what is not real. I think we’ve been going in that direction for a long time, it’s just now kind of being revealed to us more clearly. So I think from a high level, that’s a problem.”
With Michael B. Jordan and Michael Shannon leading the way, this movie looks like it has the potential to be something special. Check out the trailer for Fahrenheit 451 below.
