Sridevi Kapoor may be the most well-known actress in all of Bollywood. She starred in numerous films and received many honors throughout her illustrous career, which she began at the age of four and finished at age 54. On Saturday, February 24, 2018, Sridevi passed away in Dubai, India. She will be remembered for the many lasting memories she’s left behind on film.

This famed Bollywood actress has taken home numerous awards throughout the years, including six Filmfare Awards and a Padma Shri, awarded to her by the government of India, which is the fourth hghest civilian honor. Sridevi was also named ‘India’s Greatest Actress in 100 Years’ as a result of a CNN-IBN national poll conducted in 2013. Most recently, she starred in the critically-acclaimed 2017 film Mom. But after all these years of acting, how much money has Sridevi accumulated in her bank account?

Sridevi Net Worth as of 2018: $35 Million

Sridevi’s net worth arrives at an estimated $35 million. Technically, this estimated amount of money is a joint net worth between herself and her husband Indian film producer Boney Kapoor. But judging by Sridevi’s roles and accolades, she’s definitely earned a decent amount of this money herself. She also reportedly receives an annual income of $2 million. Let’s take a look back at some of Sridevi’s best accomplishments during her rise to the top of India’s Bollywood movie industry.


1967 – 2012

Sridevi was already in front of a camera by the age of four, appearing in the 1967 movie Kandan Karunai. By 1971, this child actress was already an award winner, taking home the Kerala State Film Award for Best Child Artist for her performance in the film Poompatta. Other notable films she appeared in during this time, include Babu (1971), Badi Panthulu (1972), Bala Bharatam (1972), Vasantha Maaligai (1972) and Bhakta Kumbara (1974). A year later, the young Sridevi made her Bollywood debut in the film Julie, playing the protagonist’s younger sister.

In 1976, Sridevi landed her first lead role for the film Moondru Mudichu. In that film, she is a college girl with two men in-love with her. The movie ends with these words: “When it is time for a seed to sprout, if the conscience cannot empathise; and only after the incident, is the conscience present! When conscience grapples with oneself for selfish ends; in the evildoer’s eyes, his madness will be his conscience!”

The young actress continued to find success in Bollywood and Kollywood (Tamil). In 1981, she won her first Filmfare Award for Best Actress (Tamil) for her star role in the film Meendum Kokila. A year later, she won the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Actress, for her lead role in the film, Moondram Pirai, about a woman suffering from amnesia. The 1992 film Kshana Kshanam earned Sridevi the Filmfare Award for Best Actress (Telugu) as well as Andhra’s Nandi Award for Best Actress.

In 1997, Sridevi decided to walk away from the limelight of Bollywood films. She wouldn’t appear in another movie until 2012. While on hiatus from acting, Sridevi made her debut as a fashion model in 2008. She has modeled clothes for designers such as Priya and Chintan at the Lakme Fashion Week. She’s also appeared on the cover of Marie Claire, L’Officiel, and Vogue.


2012 – Present

Sridevi made her triumph return to film in the 2012 comedy-drama English Vinglish, which received international acclaim, earning her the nickname of the “Meryl Streep of India” while the American publication Variety wrote that the actress “Disarmingly charming in a manner that recalls Audrey Hepburn.”

In 2012, Sridevi was also voted the most-admired Bollywood actress according to a mobile survey managed by Vuclip. In 2015, she had a starring in the fantasy action-adventure film Puli.

She last appeared on film in the 2017 thriller Mom, which was a critical and commercial success. Her last appearance on film will be in the upcoming 2018 romantic black-comedy Zero.
