All 24 fraternity chapters at Miami University have been after reports of hazing. The school’s fraternities were ordered to cease all activity, meaning all chapter and social events are suspended indefinitely.
According to reports, despite the suspensions, all of the school’s chapters are still permitted to initiate new members. However, they must do so by Friday, February 23. The university’s IFC says that family weekends and philanthropy services will also be allowed to continue if approved.
The IFC said the school is “acting for the betterment of individuals and the whole to go along with their active stance against hazing.”

IFC President Gregory P. Crawford also released a statement Tuesday. Crawford said in part that Miami University does not tolerate hazing and that the school is working with Oxford Police to investigate the reports.
Crawford says the school plans to hold the organizations and individuals accountable.
The school did not specify what the hazing reports involved, but Crawford’s statement encourages anyone with information or who suspects dangerous behavior or misconduct to report it to Miami University Police.

This is the latest fraternity suspension in the last year, as schools such as Indiana University, the University of Michigan, Ohio State University, Texas State, Florida State, Ball State, Louisiana State and Penn State have all suspended fraternities.
