The Early Years
Ingraham was born and raised in Glastonbury, Connecticut, going on to attend Glastonbury High School, graduating in 1981. She later earned a B.A. degree from Dartmouth College, where she worked on the independent student newspaper, The Dartmouth Review, notably becoming its first female editor, in 1985 and a Juris Doctor degree at the University of Virginia School of Law in 1991. During her education, she worked as a speechwriter in the Ronald Reagan administration for the Domestic Policy Advisor and also worked as an editor for The Prospect, a publication for the Concerned Alumni of Princeton.
1991-2000
After finishing law school, she first found work as a law clerk and an attorney. In 1995, she appeared on the cover of The New York Times Magazine in a story about young conservatives. Towards the end of the decade, she got her start in television as a cable television host, appearing as a CBS commentator and host of the MSNBC’s Watch It!
2001-2011
With the new millennium, Ingraham broke into radio with The Laura Ingraham Show in April 2001. Originally syndicated by Westwood One, the program moved to Talk Radio Network in 2004. At that time, she started to appear on The O’Reilly Factor; in 2008, she hosted the short-lived Just In with Laura Ingraham, lasting three weeks with 12 episodes before cancellation.
2012-Present
In 2012, her show had been rated the No. 5 radio show in America by Talkers Magazine around the time she announced the show would end, having already lasted around a decade. She eventually returned to the show after a decade. In 2015, she founded the news website, LifeZette. In October 2017, the Fox News Channel announced her own talk show, The Ingraham Angle.
