The Early Years

Dillon is from Lewisville, North Carolina and has racing in his blood, being the son of former driver and RCR general manager Mike Dillon, older brother of Ty Dillon and grandson of Richard Childress. He got his start racing at the age of 15 when he started in the Bandolero Mini Cars series and the Legend Cars Series, as well as dirt track racing. In 2008, he became the 2008 Sunoco Rookie of the Year in the NASCAR Camping World East Series.


2009-2011

In 2009, he made his first Camping World Truck Series start at Iowa Speedway. The following year, he would drive for Rookie of the Year, with sponsorship from Bass Pro Shops. In 2011, Dillon had his first win of the year at Nashville Superspeedway and his second at Chicagoland Speedway. The same year, he ultimately won the 2011 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Champion and the 2011 CWTS Most Popular Driver Award.


2012-2015

2012 saw Dillon’s first Nationwide Series win at Kentucky Speedway. The following year saw him qualify 8th for the 2013 Daytona 500, although a late crash brought him to 31st place. The same year, he won the NASCAR Nationwide Series Championship with a 12th-place finish at Homestead-Miami Speedway. The following year, he was the 2014 Daytona 500 pole winner.


2016-Present

In 2017, Dillon won the 2017 Coca-Cola 600 while racing under Richard Childress Racing. In 2018, he won the 2018 Daytona 500.
