Tiffany Haddish is a 38-year-old stand-up comedian and actress who achieved widespread recognition in 2017 for her breakthrough comedic roll in Girls Trip, receiving rave reviews for her role. Some critics considered her role in Girls Trip as a “Melissa McCarthy in Bridesmaids” type breakout.
After guest starring on several television shows, Haddish first started to receive recognition as Jackie on the first season of the OWN drama If Loving You Is Wrong from 2014 to 2015. From 2015 to 2017, Haddish guest starred as Nekeisha Williams on the NBC sitcom The Carmichael Show. In 2016, Haddish appeared in the Key and Peele starring comedy film Keanu. Then in 2017, Haddish made her film breakthrough as Dina in the 2017 film Girls Trip, receiving critical acclaim.
Later in 2017, Haddish hosted Saturday Night Live for the first time, becoming the first black female stand-up comedian to host the legendary sketch comedy show.
In 2018, Haddish will star in the 2018 comedy film Night School with Kevin Hart and will also co-star alongside Tracy Morgan in The Last O.G., an upcoming sitcom on TBS. The Last O.G. will be Haddish’s first lead role in a sitcom. Tiffany has also signed a first-look deal with HBO.
At 38-years-old, Haddish’s breakout is certainly later in life than most, but definitely worth the wait. With genuine talent and comedic chops, Haddish seems as though she’ll be here to stay.
